2002 Season - Week 20
BUMSBowl VII
It’s Dad v Son in BUMSBowl VII after Gareth (1) and Marcus (11) beat Mark (12) and Daz (8) respectively with their all-Oakland team. Chief is aiming to do the double but Marcus wants to stop him as he is the current holder of the BUMSBowl and the only owner to do the double in 7 seasons. In the real world Tampa are going to their first ever Superbowl after upsetting the odds and the weather and totally shutting down a poor Philadelphia offence. The number one defense will now have to stop the number one offence after the Oakland Raiders outscored Tennessee 41-24 to book their first trip to the Superbowl since 1984.
It Could Have Been So Different
Trading Day - so what’s the point of that then. Depends on who you ask. AP and Ron both made very positive trades. AP’s swaps included swapping Kurt Warner with Trent Green and subbing in Clinton Portis for Thomas Jones and he ended up 116 points better off. Ron was promoted because his swaps improved his team by 115 points. His big mid-season pick-up Chad Pennington has become his Franchise man. Be warned though a good trading day can still hurt. H was relegated despite a +60 trading difference. He cut Receiver Lavernaues Coles who outscored replacements David Terrell & Ricky Dudley by 30 points. H was relegated by 5. And finally despite making the biggest hash of Trading Day somehow Chief still managed to take the Papas Fritas Trophy. If he had not made his 3 changes he would have totalled a record smashing 623 points (49 more than Johnny’s current grand total). Even though his second trading day pick-up Tai Streets outscored Jeremy Shockey by 12 points he still ended the season with a league worst -34 point differential Marcus was next at -24. Without Trading the tables would’ve looked like this :- PREMIERSHIP 1) Chief 579, 2) Wayne 515, 3) Johnny 507, 4) David S 483, 5) Daz 466, 6) Marcus 452, 7) Paul 432, 8) Mark 362 and relegated 9) Cheryl 340, 10) Andy H 329 & 11)Dave G 325. CONFERENCE 1) Phil 533, 2) John 432, 3) AP 360, and not promoted 4) Ron 353 & 5) Aaron 320.
